[mod.L., a. Gr. ἐπιπλοκή plaiting together, f. ἐπιπλέκειν, f. ἐπί upon + πλέκειν to plait, twine.]
‘A figure of rhetoric, by which one aggravation, or striking circumstance, is added in due gradation to another’. (J.)
